Czechoslovakia 1937–1948.

This exhibition brings viewers closer to the interwoven stories of witnesses from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria and Germany and also to the history of Czechoslovakia in the years from 1937 to 1948. The speakers often lived through turbulent times and all manner of twists and turns in their rich lives, affected by war. Most of them had at least once, and sometimes more, to leaves their homes and families. Some returned, while others had to start over somewhere new. All however had something in common: they lived in times when it was no fun to be Czech, Jewish and later German. They tell of expulsion, discrimination and xenophobia and all their memories taken together create mosaic that allows us to form our own impressions of a complex period that we could learn from today.
