Lukáš Houdek: HopeTour

interactive installation as a lorry with people searching for a new home
20. 5 – 2. 6. 2016
11:00 – 20:00
Moravské náměstí in front of the Moravian Gallery

An installation by the artist and activist Lukáš Houdek, who among other things is behind the HateFree Culture project, reacts to the vilification and dismissal of the demands of the journeys of people currently coming to Europe in search of a better or safer life. The public sometimes perceives the decision to leave one’s country as being done on a whim and frequently comment on the situation with a number of dehumanising formulations. The installation thus gives visitors a chance to experience what such a journey is like. They can ask themselves the question, whether a person undertakes such a dramatic journey to an unknown end, on a whim, or whether it is the result of truly serious personal motives – whether each of us would see them as a reason for support and providing refuge, or not.
