Rewrite History: Sudeten Germans for Beginners

How has the term “Sudeťák” been used in the past – and why is it, in fact, inaccurate? Who turned it into a bogeyman, and why did that strategy prove so effective? And why did it resonate even with those who had never lived in the Sudeten regions or taken over the proverbial cottages “after the Germans”? Could it be a case of collective guilt?

The authors of the popular Czech podcast Přepište dějiny (“Rewrite History”), Michal Stehlík and Martin Groman, will guide you through the phenomenon of the Sudeten German in Czech post-war history.

The programme takes place as part of the Gathering of the Sudeten German Landsmannschaft.

The event has been organised in cooperation with the Ackermann-Gemeinde, with the support of the Czech-German Future Fund.

Advance reservation is required. Please note that your reservation does not guarantee a seat; it grants access to the BVV premises.
