Kaunicovy koleje
Kaunic Halls of Residence in Brno are among the places marked by the heavy memory of the years 1939–1945. During the Nazi occupation, people from Brno and the wider region were imprisoned and interrogated here, and many never returned. For this reason, the site stands as a powerful symbol of oppression, violence, and lives cut short. Yet the suffering associated with this place continued after the war until August 1945, albeit in a different context.
We will honour the victims with a commemorative act that will bring Saturday’s Reconciliation March to a close. With guests from Germany in attendance, we will pause here in silence and with respect.
The event has been organised in cooperation with the Ackermann-Gemeinde, with the support of the Czech-German Future Fund.
