The Brno prison on Cejl was a place where, for thousands of people, “home” was reduced to a cell, a bunk, and a few personal belongings – and for some, it became their last address. The guided walk opens the gates of this unique historical building and leads us through authentic spaces where great historical events intersected with the fragile, often forgotten destinies of individuals.
During approximately 60 minutes, we will learn about the development of the building from the 18th century to the mid-20th century, about the social and political context of the period, and about what it meant to “live” in a place designed above all to break a person. The tour offers a powerful experience and a deeper understanding of the history of Brno – both the visible one and the one that often remains hidden.
The event is organised in cooperation with Káznice žije!
