“I am the one with the scythe”

Since the time when Martina Špinková co-founded Cesta domů, many things have changed. In interviews, she is no longer prohibited from using the word “death,” but when it comes to the approaching end of life, we often do not recognize it, as we usually lack direct experience with it. “We don’t know it, and we fear the unknown more than is wise,” she says.

With tenderness, hope, and yet in a matter-of-fact manner, Martina Špinková speaks about death. She believes that everyone wants to die as they lived, and that we should rather ask the dying what they need than provide them with answers. Her discussion on how to come to terms with our own mortality will be held in the harmonious setting of the DADA District rooftop garden.
