Proud and courageous are the words of Ukrainian Nobel Peace Prize laureate Oleksandra Matviichuk: “Peace will not come when the attacked country lays down its arms.” These words will form the basis of the discussion on the complex issues of peace in the context of current war conflicts.Together with the lawyer, who has been documenting war crimes since the beginning of the Russian aggression, Petr Kolář, advisor to the President of the Czech Republic and former ambassador of the Czech Republic to the USA and Russia, and Ukrainian studies expert Lenka Víchová, we will discuss whether it is possible to consider making peace with the enemy in such critical situations. What is the value of peace, what is the price of human lives, and what role does the dignity of citizens in the attacked country play in the peace negotiation process?
The discussion will be moderated by the president of the Meeting Brno festival, Martina Viktorie Kopecká, and the vice president, David Macek.
The event will be held in Czech and English and will be simultaneously interpreted.
