Stolpersteine in Memory of the Löw-Beer Family

On the occasion of the anniversary of the end of World War II, a total of 18 Stolpersteine (Stones of the Disappeared) will be laid on Hlinky Street on Friday, May 9, 2025.
The Löw-Beer family, an iconic name in Brno’s wool industry, owned several villa buildings on Hlinky Street, and it is precisely at these locations that new Stolpersteine will be installed this year.

In front of the 1896 palace at Hlinky 86, five Stolpersteine will be placed, dedicated for example to Walter and Alice Löw-Beer.
The second villa, Hlinky 104, belonged from 1926 to Felix and Augusta Löw-Beer. After the Nazi occupation, this villa was seized by the NSDAP.
The villa at Hlinky 132 was owned by Felix Löw-Beer’s brother, August, and his wife Alice. It was built in 1922, and after the occupation, the Nazis established the headquarters of the Ordnungspolizei (Order Police) there.
The final location where Stolpersteine will be laid is a functionalist-style villa at Kalvodova 8.

The event will begin on May 9 at 10:30 AM at Hlinky 86. Participants will then move on foot to the other addresses, with the conclusion expected around 1:00 PM at Kalvodova Street.

The event is organized by the Jewish Community of Brno, the Museum of the City of Brno, Meeting Brno, ŠTETL Fest, and the Museum of Brno Region.
