When History Lives in Us

The stories of our ancestors are not visible at first glance, yet they live within us – and we live within them. Some stories are scattered like fragments of a mosaic; others are carefully hidden from neighbours and even from members of our own families. Often, we ourselves do not fully know what we carry inside.

When two strangers meet – each living as a continuation of the story of their forebears who once shared the same time and the same land – their ancestors, too, meet within them. Once they may have been neighbours; the nature of their relationship can still unconsciously shape the relationships between us today.

Within the safety of an open circle of shared reflection, we can explore the places where our stories intertwine, restore lost context, and perhaps find new meaning. How does the story of the Wanko family touch the stories of our own ancestors – and our present-day experience? How might it deepen the way we perceive the city of Brno and our sense of home?

The workshop will be led by Bc. Šárka Weberová, co-founder of the Institute for Trauma Healing and Prevention (ILPT).
