Watch Online: Rami Elhanan & Bassam Aramin on Forgiveness and Peace

Left
Right

At this year’s Meeting Brno, we had the honor of hosting two extraordinary men – Rami Elhanan and Bassam Aramin. Their story, marked by deep personal tragedy and an immense courage to forgive, became one of the most powerful moments of the festival on June 2. The discussion took place in the Rotunda of Pavilion A at the Brno Exhibition Centre and left a lasting impression on all of us – and the audience.

Technical failure, but the story lives on

Unfortunately, due to a technical error, the original recording of the discussion was lost. Although we did everything we could to recover it, it was not possible to save. However, we believe that some stories are so important that they deserve to be told again.

That’s why we sat down with Rami and Bassam once more – online, in a calmer format but with the same depth and power of their message. And now we are bringing it to you:

A voice that must not go silent

Losing a child is a pain most of us cannot imagine. Still, both Rami and Bassam chose not to shut themselves off in hatred. Their friendship – forged across deep divides and historical conflict – remains a voice of humanity, empathy, and hope. Not just for Israelis and Palestinians, but for all of us living in a divided world.

Their story speaks to something deeply human – the ability to see the person, even where we’ve been taught to see the enemy. We believe this recording will inspire not only those who couldn’t be in Brno in person, but also anyone searching for a way to understanding and reconciliation.

Thank you for listening

We thank Rami and Bassam for their courage to share their story once more, even though it means opening old wounds. And we thank you – our audience and community – for being part of a movement that believes reconciliation is possible.
