The end of the war did not bring only long-awaited peace; it confronted society with fundamental questions. How do we deal with Nazis? Are we responsible for what our country – and our fellow citizens – commit in our name?
Brno was the first city to establish an extraordinary people’s court after the war. It was even described as a kind of barrier against spontaneous trials and executions. What, then, is justice – and how do we face the darkest sides of our past?
Audience members will have the rare opportunity to take part in an extraordinary trial firsthand – in the courtroom of the Regional Court where these hearings actually took place.
